Story

Do you need a lawyer? He runs his law practice in Lincoln and is ready to hit the gas. Moving around Los Angeles, he takes on cases while balancing a personal life that includes being a father and having two ex-wives.. Originally set up with CBS for a series commitment in 2020, it was canceled just before filming the first episode due to COVID.

This has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Haller’s second book, The Brass Verdict. Mickey Haller has several cars, all with custom California license plates with legal terms on them. California custom plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, however all of Mickey’s plates have at least eight.. This is an enjoyable first season of the series, which is based on the novels by Michael Connelly.

The viewer identifies with the ups and downs of Haller’s legal career

The tandem of David Kelley and Ted Humphrey manages to bring to the screen the serious story of the intelligent defense lawyer Mickey Haller, his associates and his family. But one is impressed by his passion for the law and genuine concern for his clients. The film is able to capture his deep humanity amidst his flaws. Besides Haller, all the other major characters are identifiable: Cisco, Lorna, Maggie, Trevor Elliott, Hayley, and even Detective Griggs.

Bring on Season 2

The whole thing is well designed and quite entertaining. The twists and turns hold the viewer’s attention as the drama resonates. In particular, the way Haller is able to untangle the magic bullet connecting one crime to another and use it at trial is ingenious. Serious students of criminal law and procedure will certainly appreciate the law and the free tutorial it provides.

We can’t wait to learn more about the lives of Haller and company
