Nearly three decades have passed since the raging virus escaped from a bioweapons lab, and now, amid still ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to survive among the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily guarded bridge. When one of the team leaves the island on a mission into the continent’s dark heart, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have warped not only the infected, but other survivors as well.
